Requirements for part being sent to CHRISBO: The following guidelines will help to ensure a successful treatment:
  1. Parts must be made of non-porous materials. Porous material will “gas out” in vacuum.
  2. Welded materials are acceptable if the welds are clean, without cracks, or pockets.
  3. The part should be clean of rust, paint, silicon, tape or glue.
  4. Functional areas should be free of burrs.
  5. Disassemble brass, rubber, and plastic components.
  6. For PVD and CVD coatings a bright ground surface finish provides the best performance.
  7. Mark the important areas that must be processed on the drawings or parts.
  8. CHRISBO will clean the parts prior to processing. We suggest the parts to be oiled for rust prevention during shipping.
  9. If any area must be masked, be sure to clearly indicate this and consult with CHRISBO. Masking is often difficult and requires extra charge.
  10. Purchase order should state steel grade and hardness. For Ion-Nitriding the history of previous heat treatments is required.
