  Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)

CVD COATING is a very versatile, high temperature process used extensively in applications requiring resistance to wear, corrosion and erosion, often over a wide range of temperatures. CVD coatings are strongly recommended for loose tolerance stamping and forming tooling, like punches and dies, that can be coated and heat treated without any dimensional risk. Chrisbo is offering TiN coatings on cemented carbides tips, inserts, milling tools, either singly or in combination with TiC, TiCN. We are also able to coat with TiN, TiC, TiCN in both single and multi-layers. The technical support we provide will allow customer concerns to be addressed rapidly and effectively.

Typical coating temperatures are approximately 1000oC. The CVD process has significant advantages over PVD.

  1. It produces a chemical bond between the coating and substrate, resulting in excellent difusion.
  2. The coating reaches all surfaces including recessed areas and blind holes.
  3. Thick coatings can be deposited for heavy wear applications.
